Elizabeth Sanders, the creator of AMIGOS CANTANDO, has been speaking Spanish all her life. Her mother was a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Elizabeth spent early childhood years in Bogotá, Colombia. She continued with her Spanish studies through high school and at Wesleyan University, where she received a degree in Ethnomusicology (music as it relates to culture). She is also fluent in Portuguese and has traveled and worked in Latin America as an adult.
AMIGOS CANTANDO (Singing Friends) is a lively, fun program teaching children Spanish language and related cultural traditions through singing, games, stories and puzzles. The program presents proper Spanish usage and pronunciation, while also teaching children healthy vocal technique and an appreciation for music and rhythm. AMIGOS CANTANDO is the blending of Elizabeth’s greatest loves: singing, Spanish, silliness, promoting international understanding, and working with children. Anne McBroom, our creative movement instructor, comes to the center three Wednesdays a month during the school year (September through May), conducting 35-minute classes with each age group. Anne is an educator and choreographer for acting, movement, and dance. She received her dance training at the University of Utah and her theatre training at the Circle in the Square Theater in New York City. Anne has been involved in children's productions and dance lessons for over 20 years.
Additionally, she has been training, assisting and subbing at the Creative Dance Studio with Anne Green Gilbert for the past five years. Anne also runs the Dandelion Dance program at the BallardCommunity Center. Her passion is bringing dance out of the studio and into the community for children.

Our preschool class participates in a swim program during the school
year (September-May). The class travels off sight to
Meadowbrook Pool, adjacent to Meadowbrook Community Center.
